FRIEM, high power converters since 1950
FRIEM has expertise and reliability in the global electric energy converter market for more than 70 years. In 1950, Mr. Angelo Pagliai endowed with tenacious entrepreneurial attitude, laid the foundation of FRIEM. By enhancing experience, reputation and know-how, today the third generation of the shareholders of today, who even wear the role of managers, is going to organise an industrial group that is intended to continuosly evolve into its own history.
Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR, has recently entered FRIEM’s capital through FITEC, with a minority share.

Fitec
FITEC is a tech growth fund managed by Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR,
created on the initiative of the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance
and owned by CDP Equity.
It made its first closing in September 2017 with Cassa Depositi e Prestiti as its Cornerstone Investor. Today it manages € 133 million and invests in small and medium-sized innovative Italian tech companies with revenue between € 5 and € 70 million to support their growth, product development and commercial competitiveness

Angelo Pagliai founds FRIEM. The company designs and manufactures high power converters for the electrochemical and mining industry.

FRIEM develops its first automatic control and protection system applied to chemical processes. FRIEM is leader in the high current rectifiers market.

FRIEM moves its first steps in the rail and urban electrification market, delivering its technologies to the traction substations.

Proceeding with the technological innovation, FRIEM develops its first power supply for the polysilicon production.

Orietta and Marco Pagliai, daughter and son of the founder, are now at the helm of the company, driving the company towards industrial and management innovations.

FRIEM is living a massive development and expands and modernize its headquarter in Segrate.

FRIEM is managed by the third generation of the shareholders and launches the industrial plan 2018-21.
The company explores the sustainable energy and electric mobility markets, with high attention to the energy transition.

New partnership and cooperation lead FRIEM to supply consulting in power electronic, serve the electrical mobility market and provides the market with products and solutions for the energy storage.

Fondo Italiano d’investimento SGR, through FITEC invests in FRIEM becoming a minor shareholder to speed up growth and investments. FRIEM acquires Dynamp leader in DC current measurement systems.

As European leader in the green hydrogen production through electrolysis for large power plants, FRIEM supports the energy transition with a central position in the value chain.

Our industrial mission,
as well as the investment policy, is focused on our historical core business: the high power converters. Being one of the top worldwide players concerning our sector, the international leadership characterises the diversification of our leading business. In fact, today FRIEM, throught the affiliated company F&F, provides the market with products and solutions for the renewable energies (energy storage). Moreover, our subsidiary Eyes, serves the sustainable mobility market with EV charging systems and vehicles electrification.
The green hydrogen challenge needs our commitment
With efficient and modular solutions, FRIEM is the right partner to sustain the hydrogen production through electrolysis. We have a central role between the natural resources’ management and the end users, in the green hydrogen supply chain, as well as in the Power to Gas and Gas to Power processes.
FRIEM today
It continues to be headquartered in Segrate (Milan). The industrial area of 11 thousand sqm, hosts more than 100 workers. Moreover, the company counts on workshops and representatives in 27 countries across the five continents, beyond which we also have two subsidiaries in USA (FRIEM America Inc.), Brazil (FRIEM LATAM Eireli) and a commercial office in Indonesia.
