Segrate (Milan), June 30, 2026<\/strong> – <\/span>Hitachi Energy,<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>a global leader in electrification and the energy arm of Hitachi Group, and FRIEM, a leading provider of power conversion systems for industrial applications, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>collaborate on integrated electrical solutions for large-scale metals and smelting projects.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Under the MoU, the companies will explore opportunities to combine Hitachi Energy\u2019s expertise in grid connection, power quality, renewable energy integration, energy storage and\u00a0<\/span>system integration with FRIEM\u2019s power conversion capabilities to support metals and green hydrogen applications from design through operation. The collaboration is intended to support electrical system design for high-demand industrial environments where connection performance, power and voltage stability, and operational consistency are critical.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The collaboration reflects evolving customer requirements as industrial operations place increasing demands on electrical infrastructure and add complexity to power systems. This is raising the need for a stable, high-quality supply for large-scale operations. The industrial sector accounts for around 37 percent of global energy consumption and roughly 24 percent of carbon dioxide emissions1, with mining and metals among the most energy-intensive segments.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The collaboration will focus on improving system performance in energy<\/span><\/span>\u2011<\/span>intensive environments by aligning power conversion with grid requirements. This aims to ensure stable and reliable operations, particularly in applications with large and variable loads, and reflects the growing importance of robust electrical infrastructure to support industrial electrification.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
