FRIEM Sets its Sights on Germany and Chile to Strengthen its Foothold in the European and South American Markets
FRIEM, a global leader in the production of high-power converters for special applications since 1950 and a central figure in the green hydrogen supply chain, is unlocking new market opportunities with the launch of FRIEM Germany and FRIEM Chile.
With a robust network of subsidiaries in Brazil, Indonesia and North America (including DynAmp, a U.S. Company), FRIEM’s adaptability and growth in response to global market demands strengthen its leading position on the global market.
With governmental commitment to unprecedented investment, Germany and Chile are poised to become noteworthy markets in terms of volume and growth for the green hydrogen sector. Additionally, these countries are significant for the primary industry, particularly in the chemicals and metals markets. FRIEM brings a strong track record to these regions, having successfully provided conversion systems to large-scale chlor-alkali and copper industries since 1950.
FRIEM strengthens its foothold in Europe by establishing a presence in Germany, a key market for electrolyser manufacturers and industry decision-makers, particularly in the booming green hydrogen sector. Over the past decade, FRIEM’s European business has increased, with more than 20% of the company’s total revenue in 2023 generated in Germany. Similarly, in South America, FRIEM fuels growth in key industries such as metal refining, particularly in the production of copper (Chile is the worldwide leader) and basic chemicals, evidenced by the delivery of fifteen new high-performance rectifier systems in the past three years. Rich in abundant renewable energy plants, Chile is strategically positioned for the exponential growth of green hydrogen production. This is further fuelled by the Chile’s ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, positioning FRIEM, with its cutting-edge conversion technology, as a significant player in the green energy transition.
FRIEM is pleased to announce two managers to lead its growing operations. Bernd Witt, an experienced professional in converters and transformers for the industry, is set to head FRIEM Germany. Meanwhile, Daniele De Palo, an emerging talent within the FRIEM team, will relocate to Santiago to establish and manage the new Chilean branch. By leveraging local resources with deep technical expertise, FRIEM ensures superior after-sales support for both branches. This approach also facilitates seamless access to neighbouring markets in Brazil and Latin America, where FRIEM already has a significant number of installed conversion systems.
“The new branches,” says Maurizio Stucchi, FRIEM’s Head of Industry, “prioritise a direct relationship with our customers and ensure superior after-sales support through a combination of a highly qualified team, the technology and the experience of the parent company.”
Consistent with its industrial plan, FRIEM reinforces its global presence and commitment to long-term growth, consolidating its position as a global leader in the high-power converters industry and a key player in the energy transition sector.
