FRIEM selected by McPhy for the delivery of PSU for green hydrogen in France and Italy.

09.10.2023

(October 9, 2023 – Segrate, Milan) FRIEM has signed agreements for the supply of three Power Supply Units to McPhy, pioneer of hydrogen technologies at the service of the energy transition.

FRIEM strengths its commitment to the energy transition and confirms its effort to the green hydrogen value chain, by signing an agreement with McPhy for the supply of Power Supply Units (PSU) dedicated to the green hydrogen production. McPhy in fact, is a worldwide leader for hydrogen production and distribution equipment, contributing to the global development of low-carbon hydrogen as a solution for the energy transition. The cooperation covers the supply of two PSUs (rated 2 and 4 MW) that will be installed in Paris region to produce hydrogen to fuel a fleet of taxies.   FRIEM will also deliver its green hydrogen rectifier systems to the Italian McPhy’s test room, located in San Miniato, where the company produces the core of its electrolysers.

FRIEM’s PSUs will allow McPhy to test complete stacks to be used for large scale electrolysers. “With these projects, FRIEM consolidates its position among the main suppliers of power conversion equipment for green hydrogen production. – declares Marco Gai, FRIEM’s Hydrogen Business Development Manager – FRIEM in fact, supports the most relevant projects for the green hydrogen electrolytic production with its power supply units that pairs with the main electrolytic cells’ technologies (alkaline, PEM and SOEC).”

“As an OEM of clean Hydrogen production, McPhy decided to build a strategic partnership with FRIEM for the Transformer & rectifiers units feeding the electrolysers of the McLyser 400 and McLyser 800 range” declares Joël Moutin-Luyat, category buyer – McPhy.

Deliveries are scheduled between Q3 2023 and Q1 2024, and FRIEM specialists will be also involved in the commissioning and start-up services of the units. The project is another main milestone for FRIEM that has already backlog of +300 MW rectifier systems for green hydrogen production that will contribute to reduce the carbon footprint deriving from both industrial and transportation sector.
