Complete Transformer Rectifier Solution
FRIEM supplied and commissioned a high-current AC/DC power conversion system for a chlor-alkali plant in Brazil, rated at 350 V DC / 17.5 kA. The facility produces chlorine and caustic soda through membrane electrolysis of brine under continuous industrial operation.
Challenge
Chlor-alkali plants operate continuously and require stable high-current DC power as a primary process input. Electrical equipment must perform reliably in aggressive and corrosive industrial environments. The conversion system represents the critical interface between the plant power supply and the electrolysis cells.
Solution
FRIEM supplied and commissioned a high-current AC/DC rectification system rated at 350 V DC / 17.5 kA for a chlor-alkali application.
The installation is based on thyristor technology in double-bridge configuration and delivers controlled DC power to the electrolysis cells. The system is currently in operation.
Outcome
The installed system provides controlled high-current DC power to support continuous membrane electrolysis. It forms a stable electrical interface between the plant power supply and the electrochemical process.
